General Purpose Operating System


             The general purpose operating system is a computer  program that supports a computer's basic functions such as
  Booting the computer, performs basic computer tasks eg managing the various peripheral devices eg mouse, keyboard. Provides a user interface, e.g. command linegraphical user interface (GUI) and provides services to other programs or application such as Internet browser, Photoshop, CD writing software, Video editing software etc. Then the application software provides the functionality that the user of the computer wants or needs, the services provided by the operating system make writing the application faster, simpler and more maintainable.
